The Geothermal Energy Exhibition

 

The Geothermal Energy Exhibition at Hellisheiði Power Plant is a state-of-the-art look into the harnessing of geothermal energy in Iceland. The plant is owned by Reykjavik Energy and is a striking example of how geothermal energy is harnessed in a sustainable manner in Iceland and a showcase for the rest of the world.

Experienced guides are on-hand to provide informative presentations backed by multimedia shows about sustainable green energy as a global energy source.  Geothermal resources can be found worldwide. We now have the feature The origin of Geothermal Energy in Icelandic, English, French, German,Spanish, Chinese and Japanese!!!

Enjoy our coffee shop and browse through our local handicraft corner. Open daily from 09:00 – 17:00.  We are about 20 min. drive from Reykjavík on Route 1 towards Hveragerdi.

A very special place for meetings and receptions

The visitor center in Hellisheidarvirkjun is a perfect place for meetings and receptions in the very special atmosphere of the geothermal power plant. The center is also an excellent place for special venues and presentations. We offer all the newest presentation equipment and special meeting rooms of various sizes.

You can start or end the meeting by going through the Geothermal Energy Exhibition and enjoy the view of the surrounding environs from balconies on the third floor of the visitors center.

Our fully licensed coffee shop is on the first floor as well as a handicraft corner offering locally crafted goods.
